This tutorial uses a different technique.  You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file.  Everything you need is on the canvas.  Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible.  You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

I left a background layer.  You may want to flood fill to help you see better.  You can delete this layer before merging.

Open Desert Rat ©2004 Carla Polston canvas and fill pattern
Duplicate rat image (Shift D) and save the original.
Save As and name in PSP format.
