Fiery Butterfly

This tutorial uses a different technique.  You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file.  Everything you need is on the canvas.  Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible.  You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

I left a background layer.
You may want to flood fill to help you see better.
You can delete this layer before merging.
You may use your choice of colors.

BOTTOM WING
Click on back 01 bottom wing-cp layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – 01swing set1-cp
Flood Fill   Sunburst Gradient
(I used the one that has red, yellow, and orange.  It is called a Autumn in my PSP7 and Red-orange-yellow in my PSP8)
• Horizontal 0
• Vertical 0
Select None (Ctrl D)
(PSP8) Effects – Distortion – Pixelate 12 Symmetric
(PSP7) Effects – Geometric – Pixelate 12 Symmetric
(PSP8) Effects – Distortion – Spiky Halo
(PSP7) Effects – Geometric – Spiky Halo
***You can play with these setting to see what you prefer***
• Horizontal and Vertical (-75)
• Amplitude 39
• Frequency 18
• Radius 47
• Transparent
SAVE 

UPPER WING
Click on back 02 upper wing-cp layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – 02 upper wing-cp
Sunburst Gradient
(I used the one that has red, yellow, and orange.  It is called a Autumn in my PSP7 and Red-orange-yellow in my PSP8)
• Horizontal 0
• Vertical 100
Select None (Ctrl D)
(PSP8) Effects – Distortion – Pixelate 12 Symmetric
(PSP7) Effects – Geometric – Pixelate 12 Symmetric
(PSP8) Effects – Distortion – Spiky Halo
(PSP7) Effects – Geometric – Spiky Halo

• Horizontal (-22)
• Vertical 40
• Amplitude 50
• Frequency 16
• Radius 47
• Transparent

PUTTING WINGS TOGETHER
Merge Wing Layers
• Only have the two wing layers visible by clicking on the eye (PSP8) – glasses (PSP7) on all the other layers on the Layer Palette.
• Right Click on one of the wing layer on the Layer Palette and Merge - Visible

Duplicate Wing
• Make a duplicate of the wing layer by right clicking on the Merged layer on the Layer Palette – Duplicate

Cutout
Effects – 3D – Cutout
• Vertical (-6)
• Horizontal (-5)
• Opacity 100
• Blur 50
• Shadow color #971305

Merge these two Wing Layers  ***Make sure the other layers are not visible***
• Right Click on one of the wing layer on the Layer Palette and Merge - Visible

Duplicate Wing
• Make a duplicate of the wing layer by right clicking on the Merged layer on the Layer Palette – Duplicate
• We will come back to this layer later to mirror and move in place.

You can make all the layers visible again by right clicking on any layer on Layer Palette and View – All

ANTENNA
Click on back 03 antenna-cp layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – 03 antenna-cp
Black

BODY
Click on 04 body1-cp layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – 04 body1-cp

Selections – Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal 0
• Opacity 80
• Blur 20
• Color Black
(You will keep the next two on the same layer - 04 body1-cp layer)
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – 05 body2-cp

Selections – Invert
Repeat Drop Shadow lowering Opacity to 70 and leaving the other settings the same.
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – 06 body3-cp

Selections – Invert
Repeat Drop Shadow with the same settings

EYES
Click on red X on eye layer on Layer Palette to make visible.

OTHER WING
Click back on the Copy of Merged layer of the wing on the Layer palette
Mirror (Ctrl M)
Use Mover Tool to place if necessary.

You’re finished!  You may delete the background layer and merge visible.
