Preparation:
Download Kitty ©2002 Carla Polston HERE
Make sure your Layer Palette is open.
Open Cute Kitty©2002 Carla Polston – Duplicate (Shift D) – Close original for later uses.
I left a background layer so you could fill it to see better.  You can delete it when finished.

This tutorial uses a different technique.  You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file.  Everything you need is on the canvas.  Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible.  You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

CLAWS
Click on the claws layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – claws
Flood Fill (bucket) with #756033
Right click on back claws layer on Layer Palette and duplicate.

SAVE

BACK LEG
Click on the back leg layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – back leg
Flood Fill (bucket) with #CBB077 (or your choice of color)
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 4
• Horizontal (-10)
• Opacity 52
• Blur 35
• Color #874D27 (Will remain the same throughout the rest of the tutorial)
If you use another color, you may have to modify to correspond with your color.
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Effects – Noise – Add 6 % Uniform 
Right click on back leg layer on Layer Palette and duplicate.

SAVE

BACK PAW
Click on the back paw layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – back paw
Flood Fill with #CBB077
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 2 
• Horizontal (-6)
• Opacity 52 
• Blur 35
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Retouch Tool (looks like a finger pointing)
Click on the 2nd tab and choose Lightness Down.
Doesn’t take much!
1st tab
• Round
• Size 20
• Hardness 0
• Opacity 15
• Step 25
• Density 100
Detail paw – Left side won’t show, so you can work on center and right.
Effects – Noise – Add 6 % Uniform 
Right click on back paw layer on Layer Palette and duplicate.

FRONT LEG
Click on the front leg layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – front leg
Flood Fill with #CBB077
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Same Settings
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Effects – Noise – Add 6 % Uniform 
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal (-2) 
• Opacity 70 
• Blur 15 
Right click on front leg layer on Layer Palette and duplicate.

OUTER EAR
Click on the outer ear layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – outer ear

• Vertical (-3)
• Horizonal 0 
• Opacity 70
• Blur 16
Don’t duplicate and merge.  We’ll do that after the inner ear.
SAVE

INNER EAR
Click on the inner ear layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – inner ear
Flood Fill with #DCC696
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical (-1)
• Horizontal (-2)
• Opacity 50
• Blur 0
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Click all the glasses off on the Layer Palette except for the outer and inner ear.
Right click on either layer on the Layer Palette and Merge Visible.
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 4
• Horizontal (-2)
• Opacity 50
• Blur 20
Right click duplicate.
Selections - Mirror
You can click the glasses back on.

TONGUE
Click on the tongue layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – tongue
Flood Fill with #D4AF9E
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 8 
• Horizontal 0 
• Opacity 100 
• Blur 14
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Retouch Tool – Same Lightness Down setting – Change size to 15.
Very lightly detail center of tongue
Effects – Noise – Add 6 % Uniform 
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 6
• Horizontal 0 
• Opacity 100 
• Blur 10
Apply twice (Ctrl Y)

EYE WHITE
Clickon the eye white layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – eye white
Flood Fill with White
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal (-1)
• Opacity 100 
• Blur 0
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal 0
• Opacity 100
• Blur 20
Apply this on twice (Ctrl)
Don’t duplicate

EYE BLACK
Click on the eye black layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – eye black
Flood Fill with Black
Don’t duplicate
SAVE

EYE CENTER
Click on the eye center layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – eye center
Flood Fill with #CDAB38
Float (Ctrl F)
Effects – 3D – Cutout
• Vertical 8
• Horizontal 0
• Opacity 100
• Blur 14
• Color #874D27
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Click all the glasses off on the Layer Palette except for the three eye layers.
Right click on any eye layer on the Layer Palette and Merge Visible.
Right click duplicate.
Selections Mirror
You can click the glasses back on.

MUZZLE
Click on the muzzle layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – muzzle
Flood Fill with #F6F1E2 
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 6 
• Horizontal 0 
• Opacity 65 
• Blur 18
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Effects – Noise – Add 6 % Uniform 
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 4
• Horizontal (-4)
• Opacity 70

Right click duplicate.
Selections - Mirror
Right click on muzzle layer on Layer Palette and duplicate.

NOSE
Click on the nose layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – nose
Flood Fill with Black
Effects – 3D – Inner Bevel 
• Jasc Round setting changing Angle to 0.
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Add a new layer.
Draw whiskers. Size 1 – Black.  You can use single, freehand, or Bezier
I just did one side then duplicated and mirrored.
I also added a slight drop shadow and sharpened.  Your preference.
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal 0
• Opacity 100
• Blur 5

FRONT PAW
Click on the front paw layer on the Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – front paw
Flood Fill with #CBB077
Selections - Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical6 
• Horizontal 0 
• Opacity 52 
• Blur 35
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Retouch Tool (looks like a finger pointing)

Fantastic!!! You finished. You can delete background layer and merge visible.

OPTIONAL
I supplied a stripes and splotches alpha channel for you to detail your kitty.
You may want to colorize, darken, lighten, or use filters. 
Play around and see what you create.
