This tutorial uses a different technique.  You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file.  Everything you need is on the canvas.  Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible.  You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

You may want to duplicate (Shift D) and close original.

I left a background layer.  You may want to flood fill to help you see better.  You can delete this layer before merging.

FOOT

Click on foot 1 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – foot 1
Flood Fill  #4A3C3D
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – foot 2

Click on head 1 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – head 1

Select None (Ctrl D)
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal 1
• Opacity 100
• Blur 5
• Color #634F4F
Click on head 2 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – head 2
  #FBAA5B
***Leave the opacity as it is on layer palette***
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – eye
  Black
Click on eye layer on Layer Palette
Effects – 3D – Inner Bevel – Jasc Metallic setting

WING
Click on wing 1 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – wing 1
  Black
Select None (Ctrl D)
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal 1
• Opacity 50
• Blur 5
• Color #634F4F
Apply Drop Shadow again changing only Horizontal (-3)
Click on wing 2 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – wing 2
  #FFFCF7
***Leave the opacity as it is on layer palette***

You’re finished!  You may delete the background layer and merge visible.
Make the Baby Penguin HERE

When finished open a New Image 400 X 450
Copy and Paste as New Layer Penguin
Right click on current layer on Layer Palette – Duplicate
Image Mirror
Use Mover Tool to place
Copy and Paste as New Layer Baby Penguin
Use Mover Tool to place
