This tutorial uses a different technique. You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file. Everything you need is on the canvas. Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible. You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).
This
tutorial has quite a few steps. You will be adding Drop Shadows and
a Cutout.
You
will also use the Retouch Tool to add some details.
Make sure your Layer Palette is open.

I left a background layer so you could fill it to see better. You can delete it when finished.
