This tutorial uses a different technique.  You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file.  Everything you need is on the canvas.  Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible.  You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

Click on wings layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – wings
Flood Fill    #BFC3C5 (or your choice)
Select None (Ctrl D)
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 2
• Horizontal 0
• Opacity 100
• Blur 10
• Color Black
  Save

RIBBON1
Click on ribbon1 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – ribbon1
Flood Fill    #800000 (or your choice)
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – ribbon1 detail
Flood Fill    Black (or your choice)

BODY
Click on body layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – body
Flood Fill    #E1BF9B
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – body detail
Flood Fill    #BC9674

HEART RUFFLE
Click on heart ruffle layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – heart ruffle
Flood Fill    #BFC3C5
Select None (Ctrl D)
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Opacity  60
• Other settings the same as last used

HEART
Click on heart layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – heart
Flood Fill    #800000 (or your choice of color)
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – heart detail
Flood Fill    Black (or your choice of color)

LEFT ARM
Click on left arm layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – left arm
Flood Fill    #E1BF9B
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – arm detail

RIBBON2
Click on ribbon2 layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – ribbon2

Click on red X on the glasses of the face layer to make visible.

Click on hair  layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – hair
Flood Fill    #754E23 (or your choice of color)
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – hair  detail
Flood Fill    #422A0C (or your choice of color)

All finished!
You may delete Layer1 and merge visible.
