I did this tutorial in PSP8. You should be able to do in other versions if you are familiar with them.
This tutorial is more advanced.

First you will need to go HERE and make EssexGirl's Silver Star Tutorial. Thank you Sandra!

PREPARING STAR
Adjust Brightness/Contrast (Shift+B)
  • Brightness (-70)
  • Contrast 50
Colorize (Shift+L)
  • Hue 95
  • Saturation 255
Adjust Brightness/Contrast again with the same settings.

Right click on star layer on Layer Palette – Duplicate
Image – Resize 30% (Make sure All Layers is not checked.)
Click back on the first star layer on the Layer Palette.
Use the Magic Wand to select the area in the center of the star.
Click back on the duplicated star layer.
Selections – Invert
Hit Delete key on the keyboard.
Select None (Ctrl+D)
Right click on either layer on Layer Palette and Merge Visible.

Now we can begin on the tree!
New Raster Image 400 X 500
(I used a white background to see better. I will delete before merging.)

First we will use the Triangle Preset Shape to form an outline to follow.
Foreground Color – Black
Background – Null
Create as vector checked
Line width 2
I started a coordinates (x:50 y 50) and drug out to (x:335 y 410).
(You should be able to find the coordinate at the bottom of your PSP screen, but you can use what you like for the triangle.)
Right click on triangle layer on Layer Palette and convert to Raster layer.

FIRST ROW
New Raster Layer
Select the Picture Tube you made.
Change Scale to 25
Click on bottom left corner of the triangular image you made.
Hold down Shift key and click on the bottom right corner.

NEXT ROW
Optional – You may want to create a New Raster layer as you make the rows going up.
***You will keep decreasing the Scale of the tube by 2 as you go up the rows until you get to 10.
Then the remaining rows will be at 10.
Scale 23
You may want to use Guide lines to help get the tube straight across.
(Right click on the Title Bar to select Guide Lines.)
I placed the Guide lines right on top of the 1st row.

FOLLOWING ROWS
We will use the same process:
  • New Raster layer
  • Decrease scale by 2
  • Clicking on the left side of the triangular image.
  • Holding down the Shift key
  • Clicking on the right side of the triangular image. (I found it looks a little better if you go slightly right of the line.)
If you don’t like the placement hit (Ctrl+Z) twice to redo.
