The tutorial was written to go with the Boy and the Glove in the Member Area HERE

This tutorial was written in PSP9 on April 3, 2005 for learning purposes. It is for advanced PSP users. You need to know where tools are located. The node editing is fairly simple and would be great for somebody who is not too experenced with working with nodes. It should not be too difficult.

Open a New Image 150 X 200
Foreground: Null
Background: #bea56a

Status Bar needs to be visible. (View - Toolbars - Status)
Preset Shape - Rounded Rectangle (PSP v9 - Set Horizontal and Vertical Radius and 5.) Anti-alias check.
Start at coordinates: (X:50 Y 30)
Drag down and over slightly to coordinates: (X:70 Y 180)
Object Selection Tool
Click on either of the top corner nodes and slide inward slightly.

Click on the center node and rotate to the right about 33 degrees (Coordinates)

SAVE

Background: #b78e2d (Darkened so you can see placement. It will be changed back to bat color.)
Click on the Raster 1 layer on the Layer Palette
Preset Shape - Ellipse
PSP v9 - Click the Apply button
Drag out an ellipse toward the upper end of the bat.
Use the Object Selection Tool to move, rotate and resize if necessary.

Click on the + sign by this layer on the Layer Palette.
Double click on the New Ellipse layer under it
Click on the fill color on pop-up
Click on the color of the bat on the image - OK
SAVE

Right click on Vector layers on Layer Palette - Convert to Raster Layer
Click on Lock Transparency on the far right of the Layer Palette


Effects - 3D - Cutout
  • Vertical: -6
  • Horizontal: -2
  • Opacity: 100
  • Blur: 12
  • Shadow color: #976743
  • Fill interior not checked
Apply to both bat layers.
Right click on Raster 1 (background) layer on Layer Palette - Delete
Right click on either of the other layers - Merge Visible
SAVE
