Line Tool Flower (Written using PSP8)
Open a New Image (any size).
I used 300 X 300.
You may want to Flood Fill to help you see better.Use the Pen Tool in drawing mode. (Your Tool Bar will probably look different. I customized mine.) You will want to have Create as Vector checked.
Foreground - Transparent or color and line size of your choice. (I used a shade darker to help you see the demonstration)
Choose any color for Background.![]()
Click mouse button close to the center of the screen.
Click again anywhere you want but do not release the mouse button.
Drag in any direction you want, then release the button.
Click again near the START node.![]()
If you start at the center of the flower and will cover with a center, it is not really necessary to join. If you are not covering the center, join by dragging the END node and drag over the START node until you see JOIN, then release.
You can click on any node and adjust by dragging to another place or pulling arrow in or out.Right click and start a New Drawing Object
Create another petal the same way as the first.
Continue doing this around until you have created petals to go around the flower.![]()
If you want to go back and reshape any of the petals, click on their layer on the Layer Palette. Then just click on the node you want to work with and drag or pull/rotate arrow on node. You can also right click on node and select Node Type (I usually keep Symmetric, but sometimes change to Cusp.)![]()
Center of Flower
Click on New Vector Layer on Layer Palette![]()
Select Preset Shape Tool Ellipse (Make sure retain shape is not checked.)
Colors of you choice
Draw ellipse over centerOptional Leaves
You may need to increase your canvas size Image Canvas Sized (I added 100 pixels both ways.)

New Shape![]()
Select the colors you would like to use. (Again you may use a transparent foreground. I used a darker shade of the color to illustrate.)
Create leaf in same manner as petals. (I added an extra node to help create more shaping)![]()
You do not need to join since this will be covered by the flower. (I made my flower invisible so you could see the nodes.)
Add as many leave as you like.Would you like to save this as a shape in you Preset Shapes?
This will allow you to draw you any size and modify colors or change shapes if needed.
If you interested, lets keep going! If not, you may right click on each Vector layer and convert to Raster. (I find it easier and quicker to right click and hit the C key on the keyboard.) Then you can detail each layer of the flower.
