I have received many request
for a painted face. I created an earlier tutorial with more details
then this one. I still have request coming in for a more life like
face. There are several different tutorials on how to paint a face.
I suggest you try different techniques to see what works best for you.
You will probably find you will use different techniques on each project
to achieve desired results. I have worked on several painted faces.
Originally I put paint on the canvas and did a lot of smudging and pushing.
I have found using blur reduces much of the time I used smudging.
The images are just as beautiful, but the amount of time to produce them
has decreased. I hope you enjoy trying this and learn some new techniques.
Do not expect to complete
the tutorial in one setting. Work with it. Try different sizes
and settings. Often it is good to get away and come back with a fresh
look.
I am going to give you some
ideas and guidance. You will have to experiment a little to see what
you like. You may want to pick different colors to work with. The
settings I will give you will be a general idea of where to start with
your settings. You may need to vary some depending on size and
colors you are working with. Experiment to see what you like.
If you take your time, experiment,
and work with the image, I feel you will be very pleased with your results.
Don't forget to hit (Ctrl Z) to undo. You will probably use it often.
I am including a selection
for the base and a color chart HERE.
You may use it or create your own base and / or use different colors.
Size has been reduced a little,
but should still give enough detail.
Let's Get Started
New Image - 260 X 320 Transparent
New Layer - Load from selections
the face base and flood fill base color (1).
Select All and Float
(Ctrl A & F) * KEEP SELECTED THROUGHOUT TUTORIAL *
Work each of the following
on a NEW LAYER.
I recommend emptying the
Command History after your satisfied with each step. It is easier to clear
everything in a step and redo if it's cleared at the beginning of each
step. Edit - Empty - Command HIstory. Don't forget to SAVE
often. I usually do this after each step. You may want to do
more often.
