Simple Flowers
This tutorial was written for beginners. It will expose you to a few techniques you can do in PSP. I hope you will find it useful and learn some new things. Of course advanced users may enjoy it also!

New Transparent Image 300 X 450
Save in PSP format in folder of your choice![]()
I Flood Fill Layer1 with White to make it easier to see.
Make sure Layer Palette is displayed. (View – Toolbar to display it if it is not on your workspace.)New Layer (Click on the
image in the upper left corner of Layer Palette)
Use the following Paint Brushsettings with a light choice for color.

Effects – 3D – Cutout![]()
Right click on Layer2 on Layer Palette and Duplicate 5 times
Arrange in circular pattern to form flower
Make sure your top layer is in the center![]()
Make sure your top layer on Layer Palette is highlighted
Image – Resize![]()
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
Use same darker color you used for the cutout
Effects – Noise – Add 10% Uniform![]()
Click back on bottom Layer (Layer1)
Select a light green for Foreground color.
Null background
I use Create as Vector because it automatically creates a new layer and makes it easy to stretch and move to place.![]()
Draw a curvy line for stem
Move and stretch to your liking
When satisfied – Right click on layer on Layer Palette and convert to Raster Layer![]()
Effects – 3D – Cutout
Use same process for selecting colors.![]()
Preset Shapes – Teardrop
Draw desired size.![]()

Right click on layer on Layer Palette and Convert to Raster Layer (Same way you did for stem.)
Effects – 3D – Cutout (You may want to adjust settings a bit depending on leaf size.)![]()
Optional
Right click on leaf layer on Layer Palette – Duplicate
Image – Mirror
Use Mover Toolto move leaves to desired position.
Duplicate this image by holding down the Shift key and hitting the D key.
Close original image.On the Layer Palette click on the glasses for the bottom, stem, and leaves layer so they will not be visible.
Right click on any of the remaining layers to Merge Visible Layers.
You may click on glasses to make other layers visible again.
Make sure you stay on top layer to colorize![]()
You may want to duplicate image (Shift + D) several times to make different colored flowers.
Colors – Colorize – Play with the settings to get a color you would like.![]()
When finished, you may delete the bottom layer by right clicking on its layer on the Layer Palette and selecting Delete.Optional - Now you may File – Export as Picture Tube
Right click on any of the remaining layer on Layer Palette and Merge Visible
You may want to make another original using different colors and colorize. You will find your results will vary in color.
Experiment with the Teardrop shape using the same technique for a different looking flower.
