Pixel Fill Tip

Since I am not providing selections or materials, you may do what you wish with your creation. However, the tutorial still follows my terms.

Please make sure you have read them.

This tutorial was written to help poor old eyes while trying to paint out pixel outlines. I wrote this for PSP, but you may be able to use this process with other programs that support layers and material fills. Those of you who pixel a lot probably already have a technique you use. I have always used my grid for pixeling, but thought this might be easier.

New Transparent Image 2 X 2 (Yes, very small!)

Foreground: Use a color not used often (#ff00ff)
Background: Use a color not used often (#00ffff)
Use one color in upper left and bottom right corner.
Use the other color in upper right and bottom left corner.
Save to your Paint Shop Pro - Patterns folder with a name you want. I used pixelfill for the name.

Now when you open the size you need for a pixel outline, Flood Fill a background layer with this pattern.
If you are using colors that are hard to see with the colors you used for the background, just use the Color Replacer Tool to change either or both colors.
Start your outline on a New Raster Layer.

I found this much easier to use than the grid, because I was able to see each pixel without magnifying as large. This way I could usually see the original pattern (if not too large) and the image I was working on side-by-side. I had to enlarge so much with the grid, that I had to go back and forth between images. This made it harder to keep my place and often I would get the pixels off.

Hope some of you find this helpful for pixeling.
