This tutorial uses a different technique. You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file. Everything you need is on the canvas. Make sure you have your Layer Palette visible. You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

I left a background layer. You may want to flood fill to help you see better. You can delete this layer before merging.

WING
Click on wing layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – wing
Flood fill #F9F7F9
Effects – Noise – Add 8% Uniform
Selections – Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical (-2)
• Horizontal 4
• Opacity 40
• Blur 20
• Color #400000
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – wing detail
Flood Fill – Style – Pattern - heart fill-cp

Deselect
Drop Shadow again at same settings.
Click back on right sleeve layer and apply Drop Shadow again at same setting.

HAIR
Click on hair layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – hair
Flood Fill – Style – Pattern - hair fill-cp
• Scale 120
• Angle 0
Effects – Blur – Gaussian Blur 1
Deselect (Ctrl D)
Optional – Retouch Tool – Smudge
• Round
• Size 5
• Hardness & Opacity 75
• Step 25
• Density 100
• Smudge in direction you would like hair to flow.
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical 1
• Horizontal 0
• Opacity 70
• Blur 4
• Same Color

HALO STRING
Click on heart string layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – heart string
Flood Fill #840202

HEARTS
Click on heart layer on Layer Palette
Selections – Load from Alpha Channel – hearts
Flood Fill hearts on shoes #800000 & hearts on halo strings #BA8C1E
Effects – 3D – Inner Bevel Jasc – Same settings

You are finished with this lovely angel. You may delete background layer and merge visible or you may continue with me to add more detail.

I will give you ideas about how I added detail. I hope you will experiment around a little and see what you like best.

APRON DETAIL
Click on apron layer on Layer Palette
Foreground Color #AD7373
Background Null
Retouch Tool – Lightness to Target
• Round
• Size varies
• Hardness 0
• Opacity varies
• Step 30 (You can experiment!) I left at 30.
• Density 100
Add some detail to the apron. Experiment a little.
I used a large size (35) at bottom moving upward and decreasing Size a little (30).
Then I went across the waist with Size (30) and went over again with Size (10 – lowering Opacity to 5).
I went back over crease in apron with this last setting.
(To get a straight line – hold down Shift Key – click at bottom and then at top where you want line to go.)
I changed Foreground color to White and highlighted more with Size (30) and Opacity (10).

DRESS DETAIL
Still with White Foreground and Size (50), I added 3 upward strokes on dress.

SLEEVE DETAIL
Keeping White Foreground, change Size to (30) and Opacity to (7).
I just dab this around a little on both sleeve layers.
Change Foreground color to #400000, Size to (5) and Opacity to (10).
Hold down Shift Key to make a line across at cuffs for both sleeves.
Change Opacity to (5) to add crease detail above cuff.
I changed Color back to white and Opacity to (2) to lighten right under cuff line a little.

RIGHT HAND
I changed Color #B2847E, Size to (2), and Opacity (8) to add some lines for finger detail.
Change Size to (13) and go across the top of fingers

LEFT HAND
Using same settings and go across the top of fingers
SAVE

HEARTS
Retouch Tool – Soften
• Round
• Size 15
• Hardness 75
• Opacity 75
• Step 25
• Density 100
I touch over the hearts a little to soften highlights.
SAVE

HAIR
Change Color to #B5844B, Size (15), and Opacity (5).
Lighten a few areas of hair.
Pick another lighter color (I used #D0AE8A), Size (10) and Opacity (2) to lighten over a few spots of lighter area more.
You can use a darker color to go back over darker areas if you feel necessary.
I added Noise 6 Uniform.
