DOILY ANGELS
(Dedicated to the Prestigious Dames)





Creating you own unique Doily Angel!

Since I am not providing selections, images or fills, you may use you are completed graphic any way you wish.  The tutorial itself still follows my Terms of Use

Please make sure you have read them.

This tutorial may be considered more intermediate to advanced.  I would suggest reading through the tutorial before you begin.

Creating the Doily 
Open a New Image 100 X 100 transparent
You may want to Flood Fill Layer1 with a medium color (your choice) to help you see better.
• New Layer
• Foreground Color White
• Background Null
• Draw Tool at the following settings and just draw some lines.

• Effects – Reflections – Kaleidoscope
• Play around with this filter until you get an image you would like to work with.  You will want something with a circular shape.
• Each one will turn out different depending on the original lines and settings.
• Erase unwanted parts around edge to get a circular shape.  You may use the eraser and/or selection tool.

• You may want to SAVE this image and work with a Duplicated Image.  (Shift D)
• Effects – Geometric – Perspective – Vertical (-90)
• Optional:  Effects – Sharpen
• You may want to apply a slight Drop Shadow or Cutout to help enhance. 
Were finished creating the doily to use!  You will want to keep it open.

CREATING THE ANGEL
New Image 300 X 425 transparent
You may want to Flood Fill Layer1 with a medium color (your choice) to help you see better.

Copy and Paste (Use either Method)

Method 1
• I always use the Drag method. 
• Click on Title Bar of Doily Image
• Drag from doily layer (Layer2 if you flood filled Layer1) on Layer Palette to the New Image you are creating. 
• Use Mover Tool to drag to center bottom.

Method 2
• New Layer
• Copy your Doily Image you created (Ctrl C on doily image)
• Paste to the New Selection (Ctrl E on new image)
• Place at center bottom
• Deselect (Ctrl D)

SKIRT
• Right Click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Rotate (Ctrl R) – Left – Free 10 (Make sure All Layers box is not checked)
• Using Mover Tool – Drag a little to right and up.
• Effects – Sharpen – Sharpen (You may want to leave or sharpen more than once throughout tutorial.  This will depend on doily image and your preference.)
• Right Click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Mirror (Ctrl M)
• You may have to move a little
• Right Click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Rotate (Ctrl R) – Right – Free 10 (Make sure All Layers box is not checked)
• Using Mover Tool – Drag a little to left and up.
• Effects – Sharpen – Sharpen
• Right Click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Mirror (Ctrl M)
• You may have to move a little
• If you are happy with placements, click on glasses Layer1 on Layer Palette to make invisible. 
• Right click on any of the other layers on Layer Palette and Merge Visible
• You can click glasses back on (Layer 1) to help you see.
This is how mine looks so far.

• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image Resize (Shift S) 85% (Make sure All Layers box is not checked)
• Use Mover Tool to drag up some
• Effects – Sharpen – Sharpen
REPEAT the above 4 steps three or four more times
• If you are happy with placements, click on glasses Layer1 on Layer Palette to make invisible. 
• Right click on any of the other layers on Layer Palette and Merge Visible
• You can click glasses back on (Layer 1) to help you see.
Don’t forget to SAVE!!!

WINGS

Use Method 1 or Method 2 again to copy and paste
• Image – Rotate (Ctrl R) Left – 90
• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Rotate (Ctrl R) Left – 20
• Drag up some and in a little
• Effects – Sharpen – Sharpen
• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Effects – Flip
• Drag up
• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and drag down two layers.
This is what I have for the wings.  I named background and skirt layer to help with tutorial.  You can name if you want to by double clicking on layer on Layer Palette and naming on pop up.

• Click on top layer of the Layer Palette (top wing) and Duplicate
• Image – Resize (Shift S) 85%
• Effects – Sharpen – Sharpen
• Drag in a little
• Right click on current layer and Duplicate
• Image flip
• Move up
Click on glasses of Layer1 (background) and Merged layer (Skirt) to make invisible.
Right click on any of the other layers and Merge Visible
This is what I have so far.

• Right click on Merged wing layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Mirror (Ctrl M)
• Move if necessary.  You will probably move wings move after bodice is complete.
Don’t forget to SAVE

BODICE
• Copy and Paste doily again using either method
• Image – Flip
• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Rotate (Ctrl R) Left – 20
• Drag left and down a little
• Effects – Sharpen – Sharpen
• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and Duplicate
• Image – Mirror (Ctrl M)
Click on glasses of Layer1 (background), Merged layer (Skirt) and both Merged (wing) layers to make invisible.
Right click on any of the other layers and Merge Visible
Don’t forget to SAVE!

You may want to Duplicate each layer to help enhance the image.
HEAD
• Click back on bottom layer (background) on the Layer Palette.
• Foreground Null
• Background color White
Preset Shapes – Ellipse
• Antialias & Create as Vector checked (This will help with placement and create a new layer.)
• Draw out head and place
• Right click on current layer and Convert to Raster Layer when satisfied.
• Select All and Float (Ctrl A & F)
• Selections – Invert
Effects – 3D – Drop Shadow
• Vertical & Horizontal 0
• Opacity 80
• Blur 25
• Color #808080

FACE
• Foreground color #404040
• Background Null
• You will probably want to magnify to help you see better.
Draw Tool – Bezier Curve
• Width 1
• Antialias & Create as Vector checked
• Draw line straight across for eye lid then click a little below towards center.

• If you need to, you can click on the Object Selector – Node Edit from Tool Options and edit more.
Right click on current layer and Convert to Raster Layer when satisfied.

• Click on layer right below current layer on Layer Palette and create a new layer.
• Draw Tool – Straight line - Create as Vector box not checked
• Draw short straight lines for eyelashes.  If you don’t like placement (Ctrl Z) to undo.
• Click on glasses of all layers except two eye layers on Layer Palette
• Right click on either layer and Merge Visible
• Right click and Duplicate
• Image – Mirror (Ctrl M)
• Move in place
Don’t forget to SAVE!!!

Change Background and Foreground by clicking on arrow between the two at the Styles on the Color Palette.
• Preset Shapes – Ellipse - Create as Vector stays check to help you place or resize if needed.
• Draw oval for mouth
• Right click on current layer on Layer Palette and Convert to Raster Layer.

Click back on arrow between Styles on Color Palette.
• Select a color to use for cheeks (I used #C17E6F)
Paint Brush
• Round
• Size 25 – 30 (Depends on you head size)
• Hardness 0
• Opacity 35
• Step 25
• Density 100
Put a dot on each cheek

HALO
• Change color to your choice for halo (I used #C38F03)
Preset Shapes – Ellipse
• Line Width around 6
• Create as Vector Checked
• Draw out halo
• Click on the node at center bottom and drag up some
• Hold down Shift Key and click on center right or left node and drag up or down a little

• Right click on current layer and Convert to Raster Layer when satisfied.
Effects – 3D – Inner Bevel – Jasc Frame setting from Drop Down.
SAVE

You may want to save face or face and head layers as a separate merged layer before merging all.  Hope you will create more.  Each one will be unique.
