This tutorial uses a different
technique. You will only see the canvas in the downloaded file.
Everything you need is on the canvas. Make sure you have your Layer
Palette visible. You will Load from the Alpha Channel (not Selections).

Open Stained Glass Angel
©2002 Carla Polston canvas and the 3 grey scale glass images.
Duplicate the glass image
you would like to use several times.
Use Colors – Colorize to
change to different colors.
You may also want to Colors
– Adjust Brightness / Contrast
PREPARING IMAGE
• Click on angel layer on
Layer Palette
• Selections – Load from
Alpha Channel – angel
• Flood Fill White
• Click on halo layer on
Layer Palette
• Selections – Load from
Alpha Channel – halo
• Flood Fill White
FILLING WITH GLASS PATTERNS
• Now you will be clicking
back and forth between the angel and glass layers of the Layer Palette
to fill.
• Choose a glass pattern
to put in Foreground and Background Style on Color Palette. You may
change Angle and Size of pattern to get different effects. Change
Pattern to other colors of glass you created when ready.
• Use Magic Wand – Tolerance
10 – Feather 0 and click on a section of the angel layer you would like
to fill.
• Click on glass layer
• Selections – Modify –
Expand 1
• Fill with the color pattern you would like to use.
Continue in this manner until you have all the sections filled. You can hold down the Shift key to select more than one section at a time. PSP versions above 7 can select the Mode: Add
HEAD
• Selection inside the head on the angel layer
• Click on the glass layer
• Selections – Modify –
Expand 1
• Flood fill: White
• Floated (Ctrl F)
Effects – 3D - Cutout
• Vertical (-2)
• Horizontal 4
• Opacity 100
• Blur 30
• Color #AE9438
When completed with color
fills, Deselect (Ctrl D)
FINISHING UP
• Click on the angel layer
• Effects – Texture - Sculpture
– Jasc Silver setting (change Smoothness to 28)
You may also want to Adjust Brightness / Contrast
• Brightness: 80
• Contrast: 0
• Apply same Sculpture setting
to halo (Ctrl Y) on halo layer.
