This tutorial was written to help you learn more about Jasc Animation Shop Image Effects if you are not familiar with them. It should not be too complicated, but you will need to be familiar with PSP and the tools. I will try to use several screen shots to help beginners along.

This tutorial was written using PSP 9 on January 16, 2006. Version 8 will be similiar. Lower versions may have to make adjustments to use the text. Locations for effects and adjustments may be located in different places with other versions.

Download the fill HERE
Click on the heart and drag over to you PSP workspace.

Open a New Image - You will want it long and narrow for your name. Size will vary depending on the font and size you want your name and the length of the name your using.
You may want to start with 300 X 100. We will crop this before animating.

Set you Material Palette with:
Foreground: #4a0000
Background: sparklefillcp pattern

Click on the background pattern. On the pop up, click on the arrow of the Current Pattern. You should find the fill towards the top. Select it and adjust the Angle and Scale as illustrated.
Fill

Name
Text Tool - Select Create as: Floating
Select a font that is bold. Adjust the size to what you want and the font you are using. If the letters are too close, you can adjust the Kerning. Here are the settings I used:
Text Settings
Image - Crop to Selection (Shift+R)
On the Layer Palette, you will notice it saved the cropped selection to a Promoted Selection layer. Right click on either layer and Merge Visible

Save to a location of you choice. Remember where you place it to open in Animation Shop.

File - Jasc Software Products - Launch Animation Shop
File - Open - Select the Merged image you just saved.
Effects - Insert Image Effect
Here are the settings I used:
Effects
Play around and find a setting you like or make more than one with other settings.
Change the Effect to see if you like others. Rotate colors is cool! You can adjust the Frames per second on it and get more colors to rotate. On a few of the Effects, you may want to increase the canvas size of you image. I know for Rotate and Spiral, you will want to have extra space around your image. I hope you will play around here and become familiar with some of the effects.
When your satisfied with the effect you want, click OK

For the Noise Effect, I went back on the Frames and cut the first frame. It seem to run smoother.
To do this, slide the slider under the Frames all the way back over to the left.
Click on the first frame
Edit - Cut (Ctrl+X) or click the little scissor icon
Partial Transparency Tab

File - Save - Name as you wish
I keep the slider up to Better Image Quality
Frame 1
Since this has an anti-alias, you may want to set it to blend with the background. To do this, click on the Customize button.
These are the settings I used:
Colors Tab
Color Tab
Optimizations Tab
None are selected
Colors Tab
Partial Transparency Tab
If you know your backgound color, click on the color box next to Yes, blend with this color and selec the color of your background.
If you do not know what color the background will be, try these settings
* Convert pixels less than 125%
* No, use the existing image color at 100% opacity
OK

Keep clicking the next button until finished.

This is the Rotate Colors Effect
